A champion of minority rights, communal harmony and inter-faith dialogue, he promotes interaction and debate between different sections of the society and has organized numerous conferences and events involving top political and religious leaders. A two-day conference in the Parliament House on ‘Terrorism’ where the top Ulama of the Country had a one on one interaction with the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Top Media Personalities, Intellectual and social activists has been a historical move. Encouraged with the successful experience he is working incessantly with various national organizations for ‘jihad’ against terrorism.
An educationalist at heart he believes that education is the key to effective nation building. He has worked tirelessly to establish, promote and develop many prestigious universities, institutions, professional colleges and schools across India. His role in promoting women’s education and modernization of Madarasas has been pivotal.
A qualified Chartered Accountant been in practice since 1976, specializes in Banking, Financial management, and Information Technology. Has been on several important committees of ICAI and is in demand as a speaker on professional conferences across the country. He has audited some of the largest banks in India and is a frequent speaker in various professional forums. He has extensively travelled across the country and actively participated in deliberations on issues of national importance.
As the Chairman of Delhi Minorities Commission he was responsible for initiating and overseeing various innovative schemes designed to promote human rights, equal opportunity and welfare of the minorities. Was on Board of one of the prestigious banks of the country. Ha served prestigious universities as Court Member and Executive Council member.
Has been emotionally attached to the cause of Aligarh Muslim University since 1971 and has been working zealously for the enhancement of the prestige of AMU.
